Statement From Derek Fisher

My free agency was a time for me to reevaluate my position in the league, reflect on my accomplishments individually and as a teammate, and determine what new goals I want to achieve in the future.  Many reports were completely false. Numbers reported were guesses and true "sources" were few and far between.

Nothing but Net

Johan Petro got a chance to prove his worth to the Denver Nuggets late in the 2009-10 NBA season, and on Saturday, it paid off.

No. 27 signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the New Jersey Nets, bringing his rebounding and shot-blocking skills to the East Coast.

Rod Thorn, president of the Nets, was pleased to have Johan join the team.

"We needed a backup center with some size...He did a good job with the Nuggets. We've been looking at him for a few years.''

A Unique Laker Legacy

As a four-time world champion and owner of several of the most clutch shots in franchise history, Derek Fisher didn’t need to do anything to cement his legacy with the Lakers.

But this postseason, while leading the Lakers to their 16th title, No. 2 did just that numerous times, saving the Lakers and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

His biggest moment came in the biggest moment, when he hit a three pointer to bring the Lakers back even with the Celtics as time was slowly ticking away in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

A Stunner in England

An Early End

The 2009-2010 season was filled with highs for the Dallas Mavericks.

They included ridiculous turn-back-the-clock plays from 37-year old Jason Kidd, a 13-game winning streak in which the Mavs were literally unbeatable, and a late charge to grab the No. 2 seed in the West.

But the Mavericks always reserved their celebrations for a shot at bigger glory they hoped would come in June.

Johan on Call

When the Denver Nuggets needed Johan Petro on Wednesday, JP was ready to go.

Johan entered Game 5 after Nene Hilario went down with a knee injury and helped the Nuggets stay alive with a 116-102 win over the Utah Jazz. Denver now trails Utah 3-2 in their best-of-seven series.

In just under 20 minutes of action, Johan scored four points on 2-5 from the field, but he did his most efficient work on the glass, grabbing six rebounds. He also had a block, a steal and an assist.

With elimination staring them in the face, Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks delivered a blowout performance on Tuesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, extending their season for at least one more game.
