Al to Host Charity Youth Camps

Al Jefferson will be hosting a number of charity youth camps at Prentiss High School, July 29th – 31st, as part of a community service effort to help the people of the place where he was raised.

Response to the camp opportunities have been fantastic: In fact, all spots have been filled, promising a memorable time for the youth of the small town of Prentiss, Mississippi.

Al wants to help encourage and empower the young people of this small community to work hard, follow their dreams, and provide basketball skills in the process.

The camps, designed to reinforce the fundamentals of basketball and to encourage young people through sports is free of charge. However, availability may be limited depending on the number of campers.

All participants will receive a camp T-shirt, among other items authorized by “Big Al” himself. Al’s NBA friends will come to Prentiss for the inaugural camp including Tony Allen of the Boston Celtics, Timberwolves teammate Sebastian Telfair and Rashad McCants of the Sacramento Kings!

Camp details:

Wednesday, July 29th at Prentiss High Gym
Girls Camp
Ages 6-12/Grades 1-7: 9:00am - 1:00pm (Registration 8am-9am)
Ages 13-18/Grades 8-12: 1:00pm - 4:00pm (Registration Noon-1pm)

Thursday, July 30th at Prentiss High Gym
Boys Camp
Ages 6-12/Grades 1-7: 9:00am - 1:00pm (Registration 8:00am-9:00am)

Friday, July 31st, at Prentiss High Gym
Boys Camp
Ages 13-18/Grades 8-12: 9:00am - 2:00pm (Registration 8:00am-9:00am)

All campers are required to have a completed and signed parental release form (available above) before participating in any camp activities. Campers need to bring these to registration the morning of camp or parents can fill one out at registration.

You can also go to Prentiss High School at 2429 Mississippi Ave, in Prentiss, MS to sign up between the hours of 8am - 3pm all week (the week of July 20th). **Space is limited. EARLY REGISTRATION is recommended.**

Camp will be followed by “Al Jefferson Family Fun Day.” Families are welcome to partake in entertainment, food and festivities. Al has also partnered with Feed The Children to distribute food and personal care items to over 400 families in the Prentiss area.
